Stop hitting refresh on the board

A status board should not need F5 every minute.

Queues, calendars, rack status: if the site has no trustworthy push, open auto-refresh on the pop-out. You pick the interval. This window reloads. The rest of the computer does not.

1.0.6 put auto-refresh on independent windows. 2.0 keeps the same idea in workspace chrome menus: it belongs to this site.

Auto-refresh is per window. The board reloads on the interval you set. No full-page F5.

How often

Charts: 15–30 seconds. Ticket queues: 1–2 minutes. Leave docs off — a refresh steals focus while you type. Chat that already pushes does not need a second timer.

If a board sits unused, hibernate it. Do not sleep and hammer refresh.

Do not

  • Do not refresh a page with unsaved input.
  • Do not replace a site’s own live push with a timer.
  • Do not expect refresh to fix an expired sign-in. Sign in again.
