Groups are desks, not folders

Folders archive. Groups mean “this is the job now.”

Morning support wants Zendesk, tickets, chat. Writing wants Notion and references. Dump them on one browser strip and color pills still leave one strip. One misclick drops the context.

1.3.0 removed the group cap. 2.0 puts the group on the dock: click it, the whole tab bar becomes that group. Not Chrome’s colored blocks on one bar.

Click another dock group: the whole tab bar swaps. Sites are not one Chrome strip with colored pills.

Name them for the shift

Name by shift or task, not by vendor. “Morning support” beats “tools.” Keep only the sites that shift will touch.

Cross-group drag got smoother in 1.7.4. Empty groups prompt you to add the first site.

A group can pop out as its own window (2.0.1), tab bar included. Later. First make switching groups feel like changing desks.

Do not

  • Do not build an “all” group that restacks every site. That is a browser.
  • Do not use groups as a cloud folder tree. Groups are for hands, not a tour.
  • Do not delete the search group. It is not a task desk.

Back to the loop: A pile of tabs is not a desk.
