A window when you need one

Not every site deserves an OS window.

Charts belong in front of Excel. A reference page belongs half-transparent over the draft. Notices belong in a strip at the screen edge. That is the pop-out. Switching Zendesk and tickets on a shift stays cheaper in the workspace.

Independent windows work since 1.0.6. After 2.0 the main path is the workspace; pop-out is the side path. The same site is not open twice — pop it out and the shell slot yields.

Stays in front when you switch apps

Use it in the workspace. Pop out when you need pin, opacity, or edge-hide. The same site is not open twice.

When to pop out

Pin, opacity, edge-hide, click-through lock exist on the independent window. A workspace tab cannot pin a page in front of other apps.

Home icons pop out by default and stay on the library. Settings can open them inside the workspace.

Close the window and the canvas offers two paths: pop out again, or open in the group.

Do not

  • Do not pop out every site. Alt-Tab returns the pile you left.
  • Do not expect a workspace pin that covers other apps. There is no such control.
  • Do not open the same site in the shell while it is popped out. Mutual exclusion is the point.

Pin, opacity, edge, lock — four notes next. Start with Pin the chart.
